Nursing Management/Action for Angina Pectoris

  • Monitored heart rate and rhythm 
  • Assess pain.
  • Monitored vital signs q 5 mins during initial anginal attack. 
  • Promote Comfortable bed rest.
  • Provided supplemental oxygen as ordered .
  • Administer nitroglycerin as prescribed to dilate the coronary arteries, reduce the oxygen requirements of the myocardium and relieve the chest pain.
  • Monitored laboratory and serial ECG results 
  • Provided light meals encouraged patient to rest for 1 hr after meals 
  • Obtain a 12-Lead electrocardiogram.
  • Provided emotional support Client and Family. 
  • Provide continuous cardiac monitoring.
